RANSOMEWARE UPDATE
At the last meeting Bill asked about new pop-up window offering a free installation. It had the MS and Norton logos and more. This is called "Windows System Optimizator". It looks very official and wants just $90 to give back your system ! Peter couldn't clean it. At MesaSOS the techie said that he had been tricked by it himself. Bill's charge was $85 for 1 1/2 hours of labor.
Best defence: Install nothing that pops up on its own. Hold down the power button to stop everything dead. And keep the grandkids off your computer.
